Race Day Schedule

  • 6:00 AM - Packet Pickup Opens

  • 7:30 AM - Half Marathon Start

  • 9:00 AM - 10K Start

  • 9:30 AM - 5K Start

  • 10:30 AM - Kid’s 0.5K Race

  • 11:30 AM - Finish Line Closes

Please arrive at the waterfront 20 minutes before your scheduled race time for final announcements.

Start times are subject to change based on weather. If required we may start up to 30 mins early for runner safety. We will communicate this change 1 week prior when weather forecasts are more reliable. 

Course Highlights

All distances stay entirely on Mare Island and showcase different aspects of its revitalized landscape.

Half Marathon

  • Explore the historic naval yard on the east side

  • Climb to the highest point of the island with stunning views of San Pablo Bay, Mt. Diablo, and Mt. Tamalpais

  • Run past the Old Admiral housing and along the San Pablo Bay Trail on the island’s western edge

  • Includes paved and unpaved sections

10K

  • Pass through the Admiral housing area

  • Run a scenic stretch along the San Pablo Bay Trail

  • Loop back for a strong finish at the waterfront

5K

  • Quick and fun route by the Old Admiral housing

  • Perfect for beginners and casual runners

  • This course is great for running strollers 

Kid’s 0.5K Dash

  • A fun, out-and-back course (250 meters each way) around a historic shipyard crane

  • Parents are encouraged to accompany kids ages 6 and under, as the course runs near the waterfront

  • Every young runner gets a shirt and finisher medal!

Join us on Sunday, June 28, 2026 for the Mare Island Half, a scenic and historic race experience set entirely on Mare Island in Vallejo, CA. Hosted by Mare Island Brewing Co. at their Coal Sheds location, this event offers a unique combination of waterfront views, naval history, and post-race celebration.
